2nd Gen » wajid http://www.2ndgen.net official noise makers to HRH the Queen Sat, 18 Apr 2009 14:52:56 +0000 en hourly 1 why now ? http://www.2ndgen.net/2009/04/14/why-now/ http://www.2ndgen.net/2009/04/14/why-now/#comments Tue, 14 Apr 2009 05:47:28 +0000 wajid http://www.2ndgen.net/?p=89 admittedly 2nd Gen felt like a buried project….what with all the ambiwotnots and unisoundpaintings and escapades into academic jousting but lo and cocksucking behold – ITS ALIVE….how and why ? one word (pronounced Di-a-lek)….Dälek…..they did indeed invite us to their curated mini ATP-style festival in the cracking town of Kortrijk, Belgium and verily 2nd Gen was seen by ear witnesses to rise from the dead on the 3rd day like jeeezus….what holy fuckery is this ??…..ah how good it felt to have such a receptive crowd, and to know that certain fans had travelled international borders to see us play….it’s not something to dismiss casually….that is genuine love…upshot was we rocked it, as did our hosts….and as did a couple of bands i had never heard of before, namely the slightly questionably named Action Beat….a cross between Glen Branca and Lightning Bolt with 2 drummers, 4 guitarists, 1 bassist and each of them with the energy of Angus ACDC Young….ah brought a cosy smile to my face and a welcome battering to my ears….and an italian band called Zu….maths rock stylee – fucking incredible musicianship with dead fiddly time signatures all under the cloak of Raaaawwwwkkkk…..1 drummer, 1 bassist and 1 baritone sax which sounded like the kind of guitar sound alice and i have been trying to get for years….goddamn superb sonic fuckery…..

so then…..a toast ladies and gents….to the champion of expression….music
